Dhaka: State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury has extended his greetings to all media workers, including editors, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in his greeting message, Yasser acknowledged the bold performance of media workers in support of truth and justice throughout the nation’s history. He highlighted their contributions from the Liberation War to every stage of the country’s democratic progress, noting the nation’s gratitude for their efforts.
The state minister pointed out that while technology has facilitated the flow of information, it has also led to an increase in fake videos, distorted images, and misleading information through artificial intelligence. As a result, he emphasized that the responsibility, professionalism, and importance of fact-checking among media workers are more critical now than ever before.
Yasser further highlighted the role of political leadership in establishing democracy and advancing Bangladesh’s development. He cited the visionary leadership of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the struggles of Begum Khaleda Zia, and the modern state theory introduced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman as significant contributors to infrastructural development, economic growth, and the consolidation of multi-party democracy.
Reflecting on the teachings of Eid-ul-Azha, Yasser spoke of sacrifice, compassion, and brotherhood, expressing that adherence to truth, justice, and humanity, inspired by the festival, could lead to the building of a prosperous and tolerant Bangladesh. He concluded by wishing happiness, peace, and prosperity for all media workers and their families, hoping that Eid-ul-Azha would bring joy to their lives.
