Yasser Highlights Bangladesh Film Archive’s Role in Preserving National History

Dhaka: State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury today emphasized the critical role of the Bangladesh Film Archive in safeguarding the films and historical legacy of Bangladesh. He remarked that films serve as a reflection of a nation’s culture, history, and societal life, and underscored the need for modernizing and updating the archive’s activities to better preserve the country’s audiovisual resources.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Yasser made these remarks while speaking as a special guest at the 48th founding anniversary event of the Bangladesh Film Archive. He stated that the current government is dedicated to preserving culture and heritage and is extending necessary support for film preservation, digitization, and the expansion of research-based activities.



Yasser urged the authorities of the Bangladesh Film Archive to take a more proactive role in accurately presenting the country’s film history and culture to future generations. The event was chaired by Bangladesh Film Archive Director General M Javed Iqbal and was attended by several notable figures, including Adviser to the Prime Minister Dr Zahed Ur Rahman, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana, as well as senior ministry officials, filmmakers, artists, researchers, journalists, and cultural workers.



To commemorate the anniversary, the Bangladesh Film Archive organized a discussion, painting competition, and cultural program in the capital.
