Gazipur: A mobile court in Gazipur's Sreepur upazila has sentenced Md. Mahfuz, aged 25, to one year of imprisonment without labor after he was apprehended with yaba tablets. The operation was conducted by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Md. Zubayer Hossain.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the UNO revealed that Mahfuz had been engaged in yaba trading for a significant period. Acting on a tip-off, a law enforcement team detained him in possession of the illicit tablets. Mahfuz's sentencing under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018, follows his involvement in drug dealing activities.
Magistrate Zubayer Hossain emphasized that such operations will persist in efforts to eliminate drug use and trafficking, highlighting their importance for public interest.
