Dhaka: World Youth Skills Day (WYSD) 2025 will be observed tomorrow, focusing on the theme of Youth Empowerment Through AI and Digital Skills. The event aims to promote skill development and highlight the crucial role of skilled youth in addressing global challenges, marking the 10th anniversary of the day as declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus issued a message on the eve of the day, expressing his pleasure that ‘World Youth Skills Day’ is celebrated annually on July 15 in alignment with the United Nations’ call. He emphasized the importance of skilled manpower for national development, adapting to the demands of a varied labor force, and enhancing employment opportunities globally.
Dr. Yunus highlighted the necessity of modern technology in transforming the youth into skilled manpower, crucial for the country’s development. He reiterated the interim government’s commitment, formed through the July mass uprising, to transform youth into valuable national assets and create a discrimination-free Bangladesh through employment opportunities.
The government has initiated various programs to provide training and create employment opportunities for youth, catering to labor market demands locally and internationally, the Chief Adviser stated. He expressed confidence that Bangladesh’s status in exporting skilled manpower will strengthen in the future.
Dr. Yunus mentioned the efforts of the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) in collaborating with public and private partners to develop a comprehensive skills development ecosystem. He urged for the enhancement of NSDA’s activities to foster a skilled youth population.
He concluded by stating the necessity of equipping the youth with skills required for a modern workplace and entrepreneurship to establish a modern and developed Bangladesh. Dr. Yunus hoped that World Youth Skills Day 2025 would significantly raise awareness about these issues and wished success for all related programs.
