Khulna: The World Statistics Day and National Statistics Day 2025 were jointly observed in Khulna today, emphasizing the theme 'Driving change with quality statistics and data for everyone.' A discussion meeting took place at the conference room of the Divisional Commissioner's office, where Acting Divisional Commissioner Md Firoz Shah served as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the chief guest highlighted the crucial role of accurate and well-organized statistical data in effective planning and sustainable development. He remarked on the significant progress made by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) in recent years and noted that the quality of national planning largely hinges on the quality of statistical data.
The chief guest further pointed out the advantages of modern technology in providing quick access to global data and mentioned that countries with strong statistical capacity tend to excel in development indicators. Additional Deputy Commissioner Nurul Hai Mohammad Anas presided over the event, with Additional Superintendent of Police Md Khairul Alam attending as the special guest.
The celebration began with a colorful rally starting from the Divisional Commissioner's office premises, which proceeded through various city streets to commemorate the day.
