Rajshahi: On the occasion of World Metrology Day 2026, a discussion meeting was held today in the conference room of the BSTI Divisional Office, Rajshahi. Johura Sikder, director of BSTI, presided over the meeting. The theme of this year’s World Metrology Day is “Metrology Building Trust in Policy Making”.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Divisional Commissioner Dr. ANM Bazlur Rashid was present as the chief guest at the discussion meeting. As special guests, DIG of Police Mohammad Shahjahan, Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, Superintendent of Police Naimul Hasan, and Vice President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ziauddin Ahmed were present and delivered important thematic speeches on this year’s theme.
BSTI Director Johura Sikder presented the welcome speech, detailing the objectives and significance of observing World Metrology Day. She emphasized the activities and introduction of BSTI’s Metrology Wing and highlighted BSTI’s role in formulating national measurements in Bangladesh through coordination with international measurement organisations.
In his speech, the chief guest called on everyone to increase consumer awareness in controlling accurate measurement of products and to maintain transparency among traders. He remarked on the achievements in making Rajshahi a Green, Clean City and expressed aspirations to introduce Green Food initiatives.
BSTI is described as a people-oriented institution, with all its activities being action-oriented. The keynote paper was presented by Azizul Hakim, assistant director of BSTI, at the event attended by leaders of various industrial and trade associations, business organisations, and distinguished persons of the city.
