World Health Day observed in Bhola

The World Health Day-2023 was observed today in the district as elsewhere across the country.

The World Health Day is a global health awareness day observed every year on April 7 to mark the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) in order to provide the people with a unique opportunity to mobilize action around a specific health topic of concern to all across the world.

Marking the day, a rally was brought out from the Civil Surgeon Office of the district this morning which paraded different streets of the town and ended coming at the same place.

After the rally, a discussion was held in the conference room of the civil surgeon office this morning.

Dr. Md. Monirul Islam, Superintendent of 250-bed General Hospital, addressed the function as the chief guest with Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Moniruzzaman in the chair.

Dr. Taibur Rahman, resident medical officer of 250-bed General Hospital, Dr. Md. Fahmid Khan, medical officer of civil surgeon's office, Dr. Saad Karim, senior health education officer of civil surgeon's office, Md. Shahadat Hossain, among others, also spoke.

The speakers said that this day is being observed to spread health awareness and ensure that proper health services are provided to all. This day plays an important role in ensuring health rights for all as well as creating health awareness.

They said, in the last 14 years, the quality of health services in Bangladesh has improved a lot. Health services have reached the homes of common people
