Chattogram: ‘World Food Day 2025’ was celebrated at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) today through a series of programmes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this year’s theme was ‘Hand in Hand, Towards Good Food and a Better Future’, emphasizing the collaborative efforts needed for global food security.
The Faculty of Food Science and Technology at CVASU spearheaded the celebration with a variety of events, including a procession, cake-cutting ceremony, food exhibition, e-poster competition, award distribution, and a discussion meeting. The day’s activities commenced with a procession at 9:30 am on the university campus, led by CVASU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Lutfur Rahman, drawing participation from teachers, officials, students, and university staff.
Subsequently, a cake-cutting ceremony took place in front of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology building, followed by a food exhibition outside the CVASU Auditorium. At 11:00 am, attention shifted to the CVASU Auditorium for a discussion meeting and an e-poster competition dedicated to ‘World Food Day’.
The event was graced by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Lutfur Rahman as the chief guest, with Professor Dr. Ferdousi Akhtar, Dean of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, presiding over the proceedings. Additional notable attendees included Professor Dr. Sheikh Ahmad Al Nahid, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries; Professor Gautam Kumar Debnath, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; Md. Ruhul Amin, Director of Banga Flavor and Fragrance (Pvt.) Limited; and Anselm L. Martin, Head of Business Development.
The celebration concluded with the distribution of certificates and prizes to winners of the ‘Healthy Meal for a Better Future’ and e-poster competitions, highlighting the university’s commitment to promoting food security and nutrition.
