Dhaka: The 'BRAC Bank Oporajoy Alo Women's Hockey Development Programme-2026', a special initiative to identify and train women's hockey players at the grassroots level, is set to begin on Saturday in Bandarban Hill District. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programme is organised by the Bangladesh Hockey Federation and sponsored by BRAC Bank. The first phase of the development programme includes eight districts across the country. These districts are Bandarban Hill District, Rangamati Hill District, Khagrachhari Hill District, Sylhet, Netrokona, Cumilla, and Narayanganj. The main opening event of the programme will be held at the Sports Complex in Bandarban Hill District. The Bangladesh Hockey Federation hopes that the grassroots women's hockey development programme will help identify talented female hockey players from remote areas of the country and play a leading role in strengthening the national women's hockey team in the future.
