Women’s Football Team Arrives in Myanmar for AFC Qualifiers

Yangon: Bangladesh national women’s football team, led by captain Afeida Khandaker, has safely arrived in Yangon to participate in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 qualifiers. The competition is scheduled to take place from June 29 to July 5 at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the team is currently staying at Novotel Yangon Max Hotel. To rejuvenate after their journey from Dhaka to Yangon via Bangkok, the players engaged in a light stretching session at the hotel gym. The team’s spirits are high, and all players are in good health, ready to focus on their preparations despite the travel fatigue.



Bangladesh is placed in Group C along with Bahrain, Turkmenistan, and host nation Myanmar. Their campaign will begin against Bahrain on June 29, followed by matches against Myanmar and Turkmenistan on July 2 and July 5, respectively. The team aims to perform well in the qualifiers, with all matches being held at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon.



The Bangladesh women’s football team consists of players Rupna Chakma, Sheuli Azim, Shamsunnahar (Sr.), Monika Chakma, Maria Manda, Ritu Porna Chakma, Tohura Khatun, Shamsunnahar (Jr.), Mst. Sagorika, Afeida Khandakar (captain), Sheheda Akter Ripa, Mst Munki Akter, Sapna Rani, Kohati Kisku, Sauravi Akanda Prity, Most Sultana, Swarna Rani Mandal, Mst Joynob Bibi Rita, Halima Akhter, Nabiran Khatun, Mile Akter, Umehla Marma, and Nilufa Yasmin Nila.
