Rangpur: Vice-chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali, has announced that arrangements will be made at the university’s central mosque for women to offer prayers alongside men.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the expansion plan includes the construction of a third floor at the central mosque, which will ensure separate facilities for women, including female students, to pray alongside men. Dr Md Showkat Ali made this announcement during the inauguration of the newly-constructed second floor of the university’s central mosque, where he participated as the chief guest by cutting a ribbon and unveiling a plaque.

The newly-built second floor of the mosque not only provides additional space for worshippers but also includes a library and offices for the Khatib and muezzin. Addressing the attendees, Professor Showkat Ali emphasized that the mosque’s expansion would allow all worshippers, including university students, to pray comfortably on a larger scale.

Present at the inauguration ceremony were university officials including the Registrar Dr Md Harun-or Rashid, Director of the Office of the Students Affairs Prof Dr Md Ilias Pramanik, Proctor Dr Md Ferdous Rahman, along with other officers and employees from various departments.
