Nilphamari: A 50-year-old woman was killed as a train ran over her in the Kadikhol-Dhelapir area under Saidpur upazila of the district this morning. The deceased was Monifa Begum, wife of Muzaffar Hossain from Laxmanpur village under Bangalipur union of the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, police rushed to the scene upon receiving information and recovered the body from the railway tracks. Family sources revealed that Monifa Begum had been suffering from mental illness for a long time and would often leave the house without informing anyone. She left her home around 7:30 am on Friday and did not return.
Mahmud Un Nabi, the Officer-in-Charge of Syedpur Railway Police Station, confirmed the incident.
