A Chattogram court on Monday sentenced a woman to five years in jail for being in possession of drugs in 2017.
Khaleda Begum, 28, is wife of Deen Mohammad of Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar district.
Additional Chattogram Metropolitan Session Judge Court Shariful Alam Bhuiya handed down the judgment.
The court also fined Tk 5,000 to Khaleda, in default, to suffer six months more in rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, a team of police arrested Khaleda along with 1500 pieces of Yaba from Cinema Palace area of Chattogram port city on November 2, 2017.
A case was filed in this connection later.
