Gazipur: A woman was killed in a road accident on the Tongi-Ghorashal road in Kaliganj upazila of the district on Sunday evening. The deceased was Mosammat Zohra Begum, 32, daughter of Safur Uddin of Amdia Belaid area under Madhabdi Police Station in Narsingdi district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred when an autorickshaw hit the woman as she was crossing the road after celebrating Eid at Safari Park. Kaliganj Police Station SI Riyadul Islam stated that about 40 residents of the Madhabdi area, including Zohra Begum, had gone on a trip to Gazipur Safari Park on Sunday morning. Tragically, she died on the spot after getting off the bus and crossing the road in the Chuariakhola area of Tongi-Ghorashal road in the evening.
The autorickshaw involved in the accident has been seized, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the driver.
