Barishal: An elderly woman and her granddaughter lost their lives when a bus ran over them on the Dhaka-Barishal highway in Ujirpur upazila of Barishal district on Tuesday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the deceased were identified as Roksana Yeasmin, 65, wife of Pannu Kazi, and Arfa, 7, daughter of Rubel Kazi from Paschim Joysree village. The tragic accident took place around 12:30 pm when a bus belonging to ‘Hanif Paribahan’ hit them as they were crossing the road. The impact was fatal, leaving both victims dead at the scene.
Officer-in-Charge of Gouranadi Highway Police Station, Mahsin Hossain, reported that upon receiving information about the incident, police promptly arrived at the location and recovered the bodies.
