Winter Book Fair Begins at Dhaka University

Dhaka: A four-day winter book fair commenced at the TSC Payra Chattar of Dhaka University (DU). DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan inaugurated the fair as the chief guest, with the event organized by the university’s Dawah Circle.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the inaugural program was attended by Dr. Md. Sanaullah, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies of DU, Dr. Md. Abu Sayem, professor in World Religions and Culture at DU, and Dr. Md. Kamrul Hasan, Professor in Tourism and Hospitality Management at DU. In his speech, the DU VC emphasized the university’s mission of producing and disseminating knowledge for society. He highlighted the significant role that book fairs play in this mission and expressed support for initiatives that promote knowledge across communities.



After the inauguration, the VC visited the various stalls at the fair. The event features author-reader interactions, discussion sessions, Quran recitation, quiz competitions, and the free distribution of saplings. A total of 28 publishers have set up stalls for the fair, which will run until November 9, open daily from 10 am to 9 pm.
