WHO Country Director Visits Health Care Center for Elderly in Natore

Natore: Dr. Ahmed Jamshed Mohammed, Country Director of the World Health Organization (WHO), visited the 'Elderly Care' health care center for older adults in Gurdaspur upazila of the district. During his visit, Dr. Mohammed also spent time with the senior residents of the center in the Khubjipur area, where he distributed gifts.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a program was held at the Elderly Care center to honor Dr. Mohammed's visit. The event was led by Health Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman and presided over by Professor Dr. Wajiul Alam Chowdhury, President of Elderly Care. Key speakers included NGO Affairs Bureau Director General Abu Daud Mia, Qatar Charity Country Director Zakaria Al Motayir, Secretary General of Elderly Care Brigadier Iqbal Hassan, Natore Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Moktadir Arefin, and Gurdaspur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Fahmida Afroz.

During the event, Dr. Mohammed expressed his admiration for the Prabin Health Service Center, calling it a global model. He emphasized WHO's primary mission to support elderly health care and noted that many countries, including Bangladesh, are dedicated to protecting the elderly. He urged everyone, including the younger generation, to serve the elderly with the same dedication parents have for their children.

The visit underscores WHO's ongoing commitment to elderly care and highlights the significant contributions of local initiatives like Elderly Care in Natore.
