Dhaka: The White Paper prepared by the task force on the Posts and Telecommunications Department (PTD) was published today on the official website of the department (ptd.gov.bd). The document marks a significant step in addressing long-standing issues within the sector.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the task force was formed to review and analyze corruption and irregularities within the PTD over the last 15 years. It submitted the white paper following an extensive investigation and review process. The document provides a comprehensive account of corruption, administrative weaknesses, structural problems, and various irregularities across different activities of the department during the past one and a half decades.
Alongside identifying the problems, the white paper also includes a set of recommendations aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, and good governance in the Post and Telecommunication sector in the future. The task force was officially formed on April 21, 2025, with the approval of the Chief Adviser. Its primary mandate was to prepare a detailed white paper examining corruption and irregularities in the Post and Telecommunication sector over the last 15 years.
The government expressed hope that the findings and recommendations of the white paper will serve as a key guideline for institutional reform, corruption prevention, and the delivery of enhanced services in the future. The publication of this document is seen as a crucial move towards reforming the sector and restoring public trust.
