Mirpur:Bangladesh's spinners made significant inroads after weather interruptions as the West Indies reached 134 for four on the second day of the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The day's play was curtailed by bad light and rain, leaving the visitors trailing Bangladesh's first-innings total of 272 by 138 runs.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the day's play saw only 71.4 overs delivered, following 74 overs on the opening day. Bad light forced an early tea break with the West Indies at 89 for one in 27 overs, and rain further delayed the proceedings. An hour was lost before play resumed, allowing Bangladesh to capitalize on the conditions.

Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan Miraz struck soon after the resumption, dismissing opener John Campbell for 54, caught at slip by captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. Taijul Islam further troubled the West Indies with a double strike in the 36th over, removing Kavem Hodge and Amir Jangoo in a wicket maiden that left the West Indies at 97 for four.

Despite the setbacks, Tagenarine Chanderpaul remained unbeaten on 43, alongside Justin Greaves on 15, as the pair added 37 runs before play was halted again due to poor light conditions.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh's innings concluded after losing their last seven wickets for 59 runs, with Jomel Warrican claiming five for 53. Shadman Islam reached his third Test century but was dismissed for 105 shortly after. Wicketkeeper Litton Kumer Das did not take the field after sustaining an elbow injury, with Jaker Ali stepping in as a substitute.
