Week-Long Tree Plantation Campaign and Fair Begins in Khagrachhari

Khagrachhari: A seven-day tree plantation campaign and tree fair kicked off today in the district, adopting the slogan ‘Let’s do planned afforestation, build a green Bangladesh.’ Deputy Commissioner ABM Iftekharul Islam Khandaker inaugurated the event at a function held by the district administration and Forest Department at the municipal Town Hall premises this morning.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the function was presided over by Divisional Forest Officer Md. Farid Miah. Several notable figures including District Freedom Fighter Commander Bir Muktijoddha Hemda Ranjan Tripura, Deputy Director of Local Government Department and Municipal Administrator Nazmun Ara Sultana, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Ferdousi Begum attended the event. Other attendees comprised Rumana Akhter, Additional Superintendent of Police Sheikh Billal Hossain, District BNP General Secretary MN Absar, District Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islam Professor Syed Abdul Momen, District Council Member Prashant Kumar Tripura, and General Secretary of Red Crescent Society Md. Mosharraf Hossain.



Earlier in the day, a colorful rally organized by the district administration took place, starting from the Town Hall and concluding at the same venue after marching through the main streets of the town. The fair is showcasing seedlings of various species of fruits, flowers, and forest trees across 26 stalls.
