Manikganj: A week long Tree Fair concluded yesterday at the Manikganj Government High School Play Ground. The event, which attracted a considerable number of participants, saw Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Manikganj, Dr Manwar Hossein Malla, attending the closing ceremony as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the closing function was graced by the presence of Additional Deputy Director of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Dr. Momtaj Sultana, alongside representatives from various governmental and non-governmental organizations. Students also participated actively, with the session chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Atiqul Mamun.
During the event, Dr Manwar emphasized the importance of planting saplings, particularly of wood, fruit, and medicinal varieties, to maintain ecological balance. The initiative is seen as vital for environmental sustainability and was echoed by other speakers who highlighted the dual benefits of tree plantation for both environmental protection and economic enhancement.
The fair concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates to the best stall and sapling distributors, recognizing their contributions to the fair’s success.
