Dhaka: National Citizens Party (NCP) Convener Md Nahid Islam today declared that there would be ‘not a single inch of forgiveness’ for those who have destroyed the country, institutionalized repression, and killed thousands of people.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in a Facebook post last night, Nahid expressed regret over the inability to protect Osman Hadi, a leader who stood up for the nation. Nahid acknowledged the party’s failure to unite the July generation, who risked their lives for dignity and justice. He lamented the political mistakes that led to the loss of time and the heavy price paid by the people, particularly during the events of July, where many were killed for challenging fascism.

Nahid emphasized that despite the pressure and hurt the party faces, they remain resolute in their struggle. He affirmed their commitment to ensuring that every child in the country can live with dignity and admitted to the party’s shortcomings over the past year and a half. However, he insisted that retreat is not an option for the NCP.

Reiterating a sentiment expressed by the injured leader Hadi, Nahid stated that justice must be served even toward enemies, but emphasized that there would be no forgiveness for fascists. He urged Hadi to return to the movement and the people he fought for, expressing hope for his recovery and a continued struggle in July.

Osman Hadi was seriously injured by motorcycle-riding attackers in the capital’s Bijoynagar Box Culvert area on Friday. He is currently receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital.
