Water levels at 35 river stations monitored by
Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 71
stations recorded fall.
Among the 110 monitored river stations, water levels at four stations have
remained steady while water levels at 19 stations are flowing above the
danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said here today.
The Dudhkumar at Pateshwari (Kurigram), the Dharia river at Kurigram, the
Brahmaputra at Noonkhawa (Kurigram), at Hatia( Kurigram), at Chilmari
(Kurigram), the Jamuna river at Fulchari, at Bahadurabad, at Saghata
(Gaibnadha), at Sariakandi, at Kazipur (Sirajganj), at Jagannathganj
(Jamalpur), at Serajganj, at Porabari (Tangail), the Atrai at Baghabari
(Sirajganj), the Surma at Kanaighat (Sylhet), the Kushiyara river at
Amalshid, at Markuli, the Someshwari at Kalmakanda and the Meghna at Meghna
Bridge (Munshiganj ) are flowing 8cm, 5cm, 28cm, 30cm, 43 cm, 48cm, 59cm,
56cm, 41cm, 33cm, 101cm, 48cm, 20 cm, 11cm, 29cm, 45cm, 25cm, 15cm, and 21cm
above the
danger level respectively.
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna river is in falling trend, which may continue in the
next 24 hours, the FFWC bulletin said, adding: “The Ganges river is in rising
trend while the Padma river is in steady state. Both the river may rise in
next 72 hours.”
All the rivers in the North-eastern region of the country are in overall
falling trend, which may continue in the next 48 hours.
According to the information from meteorological organizations, heavy
rainfall is expected in the next 48 to 72 hours in the Northern region and
adjoining upstream parts of the country.
In the next 24 hours, flood situation at some low-lying places of
Brahmaputra-Jamuna river along Kurigram, Jamalpur, Gaibandha, Bogura, Tangail
and Serajganj districts may improve.
In the next 24 hours, the Teesta, Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers in the northern
region of the country may remain steady. As a result, the Dharla and
Dudhkumar rivers may flow close to its danger levels.
In the next 48 to 72 hours, the Teesta,
Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers may
rise rapidly at times. In the next 24 hours, the Atrai river at Baghabari
point in the north-western region of the country may fall.
As a result, the flood situation in the low-lying areas of Sirajganj district
along the river may improve.
In the next 48 hours, the flood situation in the different low-lying areas
of North-eastern region of the country may improve.
Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts
during the last 24 hours ending at 9 am today.
A total of 155 mm of rainfall were recorded at Dalia (Nilphamari), 47mm at
Sunamganj, 85mm at Panchagarh and 40mm at Nakuagaon (Netrokona).
During the last 24 hours, significant rainfalls (mm) were recorded in some
states like West Bengal and Arunachal of India, the bulletin added.
