Dhaka: The Ministry of Public Administration has issued a new circular stating that waitlisted candidates for government jobs with grades 13-20 will be given appointment letters if initially selected candidates decline their offers.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the circular, which was issued recently, specifies that waitlisted candidates will have 10 days to join their designated posts. This new directive applies exclusively to positions within grades 13-20 on the pay scale and does not include any Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) cadre or non-cadre recruitments.

The Ministry of Public Administration has replaced its previous circular from April 17, 2023, with this new directive, which has been distributed to all ministries and divisions. Current regulations require that a list of selected candidates is accompanied by a waiting list with twice the number of candidates. Furthermore, any vacant positions are to be filled by candidates from the general quota if no eligible candidates are available from specific quotas.
