Mathbaria: National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan today declared that those who had previously seized control of polling centres and deprived citizens of their voting rights have already faced repercussions, noting that they are now residing in Delhi. “Those who snatched away your and my voting rights, captured polling centres and came to power by stealing votes — we have seen what has happened to them. They are now in Delhi,” Asif stated during an election campaign at Shaheed Mostafa Playground in Mathbaria this afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Asif issued a stern warning that any future attempts to seize polling centres or obstruct citizens, who have long been denied their voting rights, from casting their ballots will meet the same fate. He emphasized the public’s desire for honest, competent, and accountable leadership, asserting that the ‘Shapla Koli’ (water lily bud) symbol represents this collective aspiration.

Following the rally, Asif Mahmud presented the ‘Shapla Koli’ election symbol to Dr. Shamim Hamedy, the 11-party alliance and NCP candidate vying for the Pirojpur-3 constituency. The event, chaired by Mathbaria Upazila Jamaat Ameer Jalil Sharif, also featured speeches by NCP Joint Chief Organiser Dr. Mahmuda Mitu, NCP candidate for Pirojpur-3 Shamim Hamedy, and Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for Pirojpur-2 Shameem Sayedee.
