Voice Mechanism Platform Floated for Youths

Dhaka: The Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the UN system, has inaugurated a Youth Voice Mechanism (YVM) on the occasion of International Youth Day. This initiative aims to create a sustainable, inclusive, and structured channel for young people to engage in policy development and governance processes, as stated in a press release by the ministry.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the inaugural ceremony was chaired by Mahbub-ul-Alam, Secretary of the Youth and Sports Ministry, at the ministry’s conference room. Mahbub-ul-Alam emphasized that the platform is designed to amplify the voices and participation of Bangladesh’s youth in shaping the country’s future. He highlighted that the initiative would help in understanding the needs and aspirations of the youth, ensuring their voices are incorporated into policies and programs.



The Youth and Sports Secretary also expressed commitment to working with the UN system to ensure the success of the Youth Voice Mechanism. The event was attended by UNESCO Country Representative Dr. Susan Vize, Development Coordinator Halima Niamat, UN Women Youth Coordinator Humaira Binte Faruque, UNDP Youth Engagement Officer Sumita Rabidas, and senior officials of the ministry.
