Dhaka: BNP Standing Committee member Ruhul Kabir Rizvi expressed that visiting the graves of BNP founder and Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia reinforces their determination to overcome any challenges or conspiracies that threaten the party’s existence. “As soon as we come to the graves, a new resolve and the consciousness of our ideals are awakened within us. We make a fresh pledge,” Rizvi stated.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Rizvi shared these thoughts during an interaction with journalists after paying homage at the graves of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia. The homage was conducted alongside leaders and activists of the Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, led by its President SM Jilani, MP, and General Secretary Rajib Ahsan, at Zia Udyan in the capital.
Rizvi emphasized that the visits to these graves serve as a source of inspiration, helping them face any obstacles or conspiracies, both domestic and international, aimed at dismantling the BNP. He further highlighted the commitments of the BNP-led government, which include strengthening democracy and implementing the welfare programs announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman before the elections.
He contrasted the BNP’s commitments with those of the previous Awami League government, criticizing Sheikh Hasina for not fulfilling promises such as providing jobs in every household and distributing free fertiliser, which were made during the 2008 election campaign. Rizvi accused the Awami League of perpetuating a culture of deception and false promises, while asserting that the BNP is committed to honoring commitments and keeping promises.
In addition to Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, notable BNP figures such as Joint Secretary General Habib-Un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, Assistant Volunteer Affairs Secretary Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel, and other party leaders attended the event.
