Bhola: Vessel operation on 16 internal routes of the district, including Char Fashion-Dhaka, Monpura-Dhaka, and Bhola-Lakshipur, in Bhola have been suspended as seaports hoist cautionary signal No. 3 due to adverse weather conditions. In the last 24 hours, moderate to heavy rainfall has continued in various upazilas of the coastal district due to the influence of monsoon winds.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, sea ports have been asked to display warning signal number three, and fishing trawlers have been instructed to take safe shelter. Around 5.1 millimeters of rainfall has been recorded in the district in the last 24 hours, as stated by Bhola Meteorological Department official Md. Moniruzzaman.
Bhola Port Officer Riyad Hossain informed BSS that no internal waterways will be allowed to operate in the district until the weather conditions normalize. In addition, the authorities concerned have noted a risk that the gangway of Bhola's Elisha Ferry Ghat may sink due to high tide. The low-lying areas outside the Beri Dam are experiencing flooding due to the increase in water level during the tide.
The Meteorological office sources mentioned that such a situation may persist for the next 2 to 3 days.
