Dhaka: A court in Dhaka is poised to announce verdicts tomorrow in two separate cases involving 36 individuals, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her nieces Tulip Siddiq and Azmina Siddiq, and nephew Radwan Mujib Siddiq. These cases pertain to alleged irregularities in the allocation of two 10-katha plots under the RAJUK New Town Project.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, court clerk Belal Hossain confirmed that the Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 will deliver the verdicts at 11 am on Monday. Judge Robiul Alam had previously scheduled this date for pronouncing judgment in a case against 18 people, including Sheikh Hasina and her nieces, after both the prosecution and defense concluded their arguments on January 13, 2026.
Earlier, the court had concluded the recording of testimonies on January 5. The investigation officer and ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya provided testimony as the last prosecution witness, followed by cross-examination by the defense. A total of 31 witnesses testified in the case.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) initially filed the case on January 13, 2025, against 16 individuals, later submitting a charge sheet on March 10, 2025, against 18 accused. In a parallel development, the same court set February 2 for pronouncing judgment in another case involving 18 people, including Sheikh Hasina and her nephew Radwan Mujib Siddiq, over similar allegations related to a 10-katha plot.
The ACC filed this second case on the same date, January 13, 2025, also against 16 individuals. A charge sheet was submitted against 18 accused on March 10, 2025, and charges were formally framed on July 31, 2025, marking the commencement of the trial.
