Sherpur: Vehicular movement on the Sherpur Bridge over the Kushiyara River, located at the 186th kilometer of the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway (N-2), will be restricted due to repair work on its damaged deck slab, according to the Roads and Highways Department. The repair work is scheduled to begin at 8:00am on April 24 and will continue until 8:00am on April 26.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during this period, traffic will be managed in phases to facilitate the work. On April 24, vehicles will be allowed to use only one lane of the bridge from 8:00am to 11:00pm. From 11:00pm on April 24 to 9:00am on April 25, vehicular movement on the bridge will be completely suspended. Subsequently, from 9:00am on April 25 until 8:00am on April 26, traffic will resume on a single lane using the opposite side of the bridge.
To minimize congestion during the restriction period, authorities have advised motorists traveling along the Dhaka-Sylhet highway to take alternative routes. Vehicles moving between Shaestaganj and Sylhet via Sherpur are advised to travel through Shaestaganj-Mirpur (Bahubal)-Srimangal-Moulvibazar-Fenchuganj-Sylhet. Those traveling from Sherpur (Moulvibazar) to Sylhet can use the Sherpur-Moulvibazar-Fenchuganj-Sylhet route. Meanwhile, vehicles operating on the Syedpur (Nabiganj)-Sherpur-Sylhet-Sunamganj route are advised to divert via Syedpur Bazar-Raniganj-Jagannathpur-Sunamganj.
