Vaccination Key to Safeguarding Children: Muhit

Gazipur: State Minister for Health Dr MA Muhit on Sunday emphasized the importance of ensuring vaccination for all children to keep them safe and healthy, as the government intensifies its efforts to prevent measles. He assured that there is no crisis in the supply of measles vaccines.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Dr Muhit made these remarks at the inauguration of an emergency measles-rubella vaccination program at the Bhawal Mirzapur Union Parishad grounds in Gazipur Sadar upazila. The minister highlighted the swift actions taken to ensure an adequate supply of vaccines and acknowledged the support of several global health organizations in the campaign. He urged public participation to ensure its success.

Local MPs M Manjurul Karim Roni and SM Rafiqul Islam, along with the deputy commissioner, civil surgeon of the district, and representatives from the World Health Organization and UNICEF, attended the program. The civil surgeon’s office reported that the campaign targets children aged 6 to 59 months, with approximately 28,000 doses to be administered throughout Gazipur over the next 15 days.

Vaccination activities are ongoing in Sadar, Tongi, Konabari, Kashimpur, Kaliakair, Sreepur, Kapasia, Kaliganj, and Pubail areas. The campaign was also launched simultaneously across 30 upazilas in 18 districts, including Gazipur.
