Dhaka: Both the men’s and women’s section finals of the Victory Day Handball Competition are scheduled to take place tomorrow at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital. The men’s final will see group champions Border Guard Bangladesh face off against group runners-up Bangladesh Ansar at 3 pm. Earlier in the day, the women’s final will feature group champions Bangladesh Ansar against group runners-up Bangladesh Police, with the match set to commence at 12 noon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh Olympic Association secretary general Jubaidur Rahman Rana is expected to attend the finals as the chief guest and will distribute prizes to the winners. In the women’s section group matches held earlier, Bangladesh Ansar emerged victorious over Bangladesh Police with a score of 39-31, having led the first half by 20-16. In another match, Faruk Tomal Sports Academy defeated Border Guard Bangladesh 29-24, after leading the first half by 14-13.
In the men’s group section matches, Bangladesh Police secured a win against Team Handball Dhaka with a score of 42-22, maintaining a first-half lead of 20-13. Border Guard Bangladesh triumphed over Bangladesh Ansar by 30-27, despite trailing in the first half by 15-14.
