Dhaka: Visiting US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor on Saturday paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The meeting began at 9:30am at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon, as reported by PM's Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the two sides exchanged views on Bangladesh-US bilateral relations, expanding trade and investment, regional cooperation, and other issues of mutual interest. Present at the meeting were Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, State Minister Shama Obaed, Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir, and PM's advisers Rehan Asif Asad and Mahadi Amin. US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen also attended the meeting.
The US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia arrived in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon for a three-day visit. As part of his visit, Sergio Gor met Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman on Thursday evening and visited the Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar on Friday.
