URP Planners Reunion and Planning Carnival Commences at RUET

Rajshahi: A two-day Urban and Regional Planning (URP) Planners Reunion and Planning Carnival 2025 commenced for the first time at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the festival, initiated by the URP Department, was marked by a vibrant rally that began on the RUET campus, parading through its roads. The festival’s opening was celebrated with the release of balloons and festoons, creating a festive atmosphere.



An inaugural ceremony and discussion took place at the central auditorium, with Vice-chancellor Prof SM Abdur Razzaque addressing the gathering as the chief guest. He emphasized that the festival aims to significantly enhance awareness, professionalism, and engagement among students regarding urban planning. The event is also expected to foster creativity among students through their participation in various activities.



The meeting, chaired by URP Department Head Prof Ilmi Faridatul, featured contributions from Students Welfare Deputy Director Monzur Murshed, President of RUET Planners Alumni Association Shubho Kanti Podder, and Board Member of Bangladesh Institute of Planners Fahim Abedeen.



The festival’s key attractions include a poster presentation, photography competition, project design, documentary projection, and a debate competition.
