Pabna:Three special lorries carrying uranium for the second unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant are en route to the plant in Pabna, escorted by tight security measures provided by the Bangladesh Army.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the lorries passed through the Bonpara bypass in Baraigram upazila around 1145 a.m. As they traveled through the district, police and intelligence agency members were stationed at key points along the highway to ensure the safe passage of the uranium-laden vehicles.

Prior to this, an aircraft carrying the uranium landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at approximately 1145 p.m. on Friday. Following the completion of necessary procedures at the airport, the uranium was transferred onto the special lorries, which then began their journey to the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.

The flight carrying the uranium was initially scheduled to arrive on September 24 but encountered delays after it was denied permission to use Pakistani airspace.
