Dhaka: The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has issued a directive for all institutions under its supervision to repurpose unused land into playgrounds. This initiative aims to improve sports facilities across both urban and rural areas, ensuring that students have access to adequate recreational spaces.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the order published on the DTE website mandates heads of Technical Teachers’ Training Colleges, Engineering Colleges, Polytechnic Institutes, and Government Technical Schools and Colleges to work in collaboration with relevant authorities to execute the transformation. The directive emphasizes that any unused land should be developed into playgrounds adhering to designs approved by the National Sports Council (NSC).
Institutions have been instructed to identify appropriate plots using their schedules and mouza maps and to submit detailed reports to the DTE. Additionally, any existing playgrounds that are currently unusable must be renovated to be suitable for sports activities.
The directive also requires that institutions report their progress to the DTE by July 30. These reports, aligned with decisions made at a Ministry of Youth and Sports meeting, are to be submitted via email to [email protected].
