Geneva: This year is set to be among the very warmest ever recorded, capping more than a decade of unprecedented heat, the United Nations said Thursday.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, “The alarming streak of exceptional temperatures continued in 2025, which is set to be either the second or third warmest year on record,” the World Meteorological Organization stated in an update on the state of the global climate. This update was released ahead of next week’s COP30 UN climate summit in Brazil.

The report highlights a sustained trend of rising global temperatures, with 2025 being anticipated to join the ranks of the top three warmest years recorded. This ongoing pattern of high temperatures underscores the critical discussions to be held at the upcoming climate summit, where global leaders are expected to address and strategize on mitigating climate change impacts.
