Dhaka: British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke today emphasized that the UK-Bangladesh partnership is growing stronger, driven by robust people-to-people connections, vibrant economic relations, and collaborative efforts on regional and global issues. She shared these insights with journalists following a meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir at the foreign ministry.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Cooke stated that her discussion with the state minister encompassed a broad range of shared priorities between the UK and Bangladesh, such as trade and investment, migration cooperation, and support for the Rohingya response. Their conversation also touched upon regional and international matters of mutual interest.
Cooke highlighted that the bilateral relationship between the UK and Bangladesh is rooted in deep connections between their peoples and is supported by dynamic trade and investment ties, alongside cooperation on broader regional and global issues. She expressed her commitment to working closely with the state minister and the Bangladesh government to further enhance the bilateral relationship and achieve concrete benefits for both nations.
"I look forward to meeting and to working closely with the Honorable State Minister and, of course, the Government of Bangladesh to build on our strong partnership and deliver tangible benefits for both our countries," Cooke concluded.
