Dhaka: Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi is set to organize a “Folk-music festival (Loko Ganer Asor)” tomorrow at Satyen Sen Chattar, located in front of the National Press Club in the capital. The event marks the ‘Chaitra Sankranti,’ a traditional festival observed in rural Bangladesh, signifying the last day of the Bangla calendar year.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this year’s theme is “Vule jai dondho, kete jak vranti, Shuvo barta anuk Chaitra Sankranti.” Amit Ranjan Dey, the general secretary of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi, shared this information in a press release. The festival will feature performances by artists from Udichi Shilpigoshthi, including members from central, Dhaka Mohanogor, and its various branches.

The program will showcase a variety of folk music genres, along with songs, recitations, and dances, as noted in the release. Additionally, Chhayanaut, an institution dedicated to Bengali culture, will organize a “Morning arrangement (Provati Ayojan)” with support from Udichi Shilpigoshthi to commemorate the occasion.
