Dhaka: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended humanitarian assistance to people affected by the recent floods and landslides in Bangladesh, with food and clothing packages being distributed among around 10,000 affected families across different parts of the country.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the assistance is being provided through the Foreign Aid Office of the Embassy of the UAE in Dhaka as part of the UAE’s humanitarian response to the disaster-affected communities. As part of the initiative, humanitarian assistance has also been distributed among approximately 5,000 Rohingya families living in Camps 3 and 4.
Director of Foreign Aid at the Embassy of the UAE in Bangladesh, Rashed Mohammed Nasser Almeili Aljabi, attended the distribution programme. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized the importance of standing beside people affected by disasters such as floods and landslides as a humanitarian responsibility. ‘The UAE has undertaken this initiative to help meet some of the immediate needs of affected families and to stand beside them during this difficult time,’ he stated.
The recent floods and landslides have caused significant hardship for many families, disrupting their homes, livelihoods, and daily lives. The humanitarian assistance is aimed at meeting some of the immediate needs of affected families and helping ease the difficulties they are facing in the aftermath of the disasters.
The UAE’s initiative reflects the longstanding friendship and close relations between Bangladesh and the UAE, as well as Abu Dhabi’s continued commitment to supporting the people of Bangladesh during times of disaster and humanitarian need.
