Rajshahi: As part of the nationwide Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), the National Typhoid Vaccination Campaign-2025 began here today to protect the targeted children from typhoid fever. Commissioner of Rajshahi division and Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Khondoker Azim Ahmed inaugurated the city-level campaign at Madinatul Kamil Madrasha this morning as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the campaign will run for 18 working days, with initial doses being administered at 278 schools from October 12 to 30 and subsequent doses at 240 EPI centers from November 1 to 13. Like other parts of the country, the RCC will carry out the typhoid vaccination campaign with a target of immunizing 135,127 children aged between 9 months and under 16 years.
In attendance at the inauguration were Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Muhammad Abu Sufian, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Afia Akhter, RCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, and Deputy Director of the Department of Health Dr. Abdullah Al Murad. Additionally, the Department of Health organized a divisional level typhoid campaign opening ceremony at Rajshahi Education Board Government Model School and College, with dignitaries like Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Health Sheikh Momena Moni and Divisional Director of Health Dr. Habibur Rahman present.
The campaign aims to vaccinate 52,51,000 children aged between nine months to 15 years across all eight districts under the Rajshahi division. Health officials are urging parents to take advantage of this free government initiative to protect their children against typhoid, a disease associated with poor sanitation and unsafe water.
