Dhaka:Two workers were detained today while excavating a road for an unauthorized gas connection without permission from the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). The incident took place on Lal Mia Road in the North Muradpur area, which is part of ward number 52 under DSCC's zone-5.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DSCC Engineering Department reported that the road excavation was allegedly directed by Zia Uddin Badal of Sharif Manzil, located at 307, Muradpur, Jurain, without obtaining the required permission from the city corporation.

Upon receiving the information, DSCC authorities swiftly conducted an operation and detained the two workers at the scene. During the operation, they seized two hammer drills, electrical wiring, and two trowels used for the illegal excavation.

The detained workers were handed over to the police for further legal action, with assistance from the officer-in-charge of Kadamtali Police Station. The DSCC emphasized that they will continue such operations to serve the public interest and protect government property.
