Two Students Electrocuted by Rat Trap in Bhola

Bhola: Two students died after being electrocuted in a rat trap in Janata Bazar area under Char Fashion upazila of the district last night. The deceased were identified as Jihan, 15, and Md. Jubayed Islam, 16.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jihan was the son of Md. Farid Uddin and a ninth-grade student of Char Fashion Government TB Secondary School. Md. Jubayed Islam was the son of Riaz Mia and attended Aligaon A-Gafur Secondary School as a ninth-grade student. Police reported that the incident occurred around 7:30 pm when the students were returning home from private tuition. They were electrocuted by a rat trap set by a farmer, Jahangir Mahajan, along the roadside.

Local residents immediately rushed to the scene and transported the students to Char Fashion Hospital. However, the on-duty doctor declared both students dead upon arrival. Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman Howlader of Char Fashion Police Station confirmed the incident and stated that a case was registered on Tuesday morning in connection with the tragedy.

Legal measures are being pursued against individuals responsible for installing electric traps on farmland.
