Two RMG Factories in Bangladesh Awarded LEED Gold Certificates

Dhaka: Two more Ready-Made Garment (RMG) factories in Bangladesh have been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certificates by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). This recognition underscores the country’s commitment to promoting environmental sustainability within its RMG sector.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the factories that have been honored with the LEED certificates are Evitex Apparels Limited located in Gazipur and Aswad Composite Mills situated in Ashulia, Savar. Both factories achieved the Gold Certificates by demonstrating strong performance in various sustainability categories and adopting advanced green building practices.



This achievement raises the total number of LEED-certified RMG factories in Bangladesh to 250, comprising 105 factories with Platinum ratings and 131 with Gold ratings. Notably, Bangladesh is home to 9 out of the top 10 and 68 out of the top 100 highest-rated LEED factories globally.
