Dhaka: Two more people have died of measles in the country.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a press release from the control center of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported these fatalities. Additionally, there are suspicions that five more individuals have succumbed to the disease.
The press release disclosed that 1,282 new suspected measles cases have been identified nationwide, with 180 laboratory-confirmed cases. From March 15 to April 6, the total number of confirmed measles cases reached 1,099, while the suspected cases amounted to 8,534. As of March 15, there have been 20 confirmed measles-related deaths and 118 suspected measles fatalities.
The Dhaka division has experienced the highest number of suspected measles cases, with 3,652 reported infections. Of these, 611 cases have been confirmed as measles. The release also noted that 6,016 individuals have recovered from the disease during the period from March 15 to April 6.
The DGHS remains vigilant, continuously monitoring the situation and regularly collecting and analyzing data through its integrated control center. In addition to providing necessary medical care for patients, the public has been advised to exercise caution.
