Barishal: Two children drowned in a pond in West Bhurghata village under Khanjapur union of Gournadi upazila on Tuesday morning. The victims, both aged three, were identified as Ramzan Howlader, son of Kawsar Howlader of the village, and Mohammad Mridha, son of Bahadur Mridha from Goyal village under Agailjhara upazila. The boys were cousins.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tragic incident occurred at around 9:45 am. Ramzan and Mohammad had ventured out to the village yard around 9 am and accidentally fell into a nearby pond unnoticed. After a search, the children were found and rushed to the Kalkani Upazila Health Complex in Madaripur, where they were pronounced dead by the on-duty doctor.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gournadi Police Station, Tarki Hasan Rasel, confirmed the incident. The community is in mourning over the loss of the two young lives.
