Rajbari: Two people were killed and another was injured in a road accident at Kalyanpur area under Rajbari Sadar upazila on the Dhaka-Khulna highway early today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased were identified as Nazmul Haque, 35, son of Mansur Molla of Trimohani Barkhada village, and Kawsar, 30, son of Shahin Molla of Paschim Majampur area, both from Kushtia Sadar upazila. The accident occurred around 1 a.m. when a speeding cargo truck collided with another stationary truck that was parked on the roadside for repairs.
Shamim Sheikh, in-charge of Rajbari-Faridpur Highway Police, reported that the truck driver and two helpers were underneath the stationary vehicle, working to change a wheel when the collision took place. All three sustained critical injuries.
They were immediately taken to Rajbari Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared Nazmul Haque and Kawsar dead.
