Khulna: Two men were killed this noon near the main gate of Khulna District and Sessions Judge Court in the city. The deceased were identified as Hasib Howlader, 40, and Fazle Rabbi Rajon, 35.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, police and local people reported that Hasib and Rajon appeared before the Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate Court for a hearing in an arms case filed with Sonadanga Police Station. After the hearing, they were sitting near K.D. Ghosh Road when four to six miscreants arrived on motorcycles, opened fire on them, and then fled the scene.

Hasib died on the spot, while Rajon succumbed to his injuries on the way to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH). Law enforcers recovered an unexploded round of ammunition, another fired round, and a motorcycle from the spot.

Talking to BSS, the residential Medical Officer (RMO) of KMCH, Dr. Shamim Hasan, said both bodies bore multiple gunshot wounds and hacking injuries. Contacted, Assistant Commissioner (Media) of Khulna Metropolitan Police T.M. Rokonuzzaman stated that initial information suggests the involvement of the Grenade Babu Group driven by criminal rivalry and turf domination.

Police, CID, DB, and PIB teams have visited the scene, and an investigation is underway to arrest the killers.
