Tangail: Two individuals lost their lives when a truck collided with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at the Gharinda underpass area on the Dhaka-Tangail highway early Sunday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victims have been identified as Saheb Ali, the 45-year-old driver of the auto-rickshaw and son of Kashem Uddin from the Akua area, and Abdul Alim, a 60-year-old passenger and son of Nur Mohammad Sheikh from the Bhokta area. Both were residents of Kalihati upazila in Tangail.
Police reported that the incident occurred when a Dhaka-bound truck struck the auto-rickshaw from behind while it was on the service lane. The impact resulted in the immediate death of passenger Abdul Alim on the spot.
The driver, Saheb Ali, who sustained critical injuries, was initially taken to Tangail General Hospital for primary treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries while being transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Sub-Inspector Kamrul Hasan from Elenga Highway Police Station stated that the deceased's bodies are being kept at the Tangail General Hospital morgue. They will be released to their respective families once all legal formalities have been completed.
