Two people were killed after a passenger bus lost control and ran over them in front of Setu Bhaban in the capital’s Banani area this afternoon. The tragic incident has left the local community in shock as authorities work to understand the circumstances leading to the accident.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased were identified as Md Muslim Uddin, 74, and Md Sagar Mia, 35, both of whom were day labourers. The victims were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where they were declared dead by the on-duty doctor around 6:20pm.
Sub-Inspector Md Rafiqul Islam of Banani Police Station confirmed that the bus involved in the accident has been seized. He also mentioned that legal action is underway as investigations continue to determine the cause of the incident and any potential negligence on the part of the driver or the bus company.
